Buyer Beware

While leaving Starbucks today I noticed a man, looking at his computer screen at a PayPal screen writing addresses on US Postal envelopes. I thought this was interesting so I introduced myself and asked about his business.

He explained he didn’t know what the business was, he was just helping is wife. So I probed a bit more and he revealed only a couple generic points.

1. That his wife may make $2000 a month working for this “company.”
2. He only knew it was some kind of “franchise for less” business.

I found this very interesting; that a man would sit at a Starbucks stuffing a hundred envelopes and addressing them to various people for an obvious fee and not know what he was selling.
,
My warning to anyone that runs across these online companies that are asking for you to pay to “get your kit” to make thousands, please, even if it’s only a few dollars, beware. If this guy was sending this “secret” information to thousands of people, is it really secret? Will the thousands of people that receive this really make millions working from home? No one is going to sell a million dollars of revenue for a few bucks.

It’s a hard rule at WitLinx that none of our agents pay a dollar to join our team, and they make a rewarding compensation. No not millions, but enough to make a difference in their lives.

Save yourself the postage, money and time. Take a local adult education class, college class, or work on a hobby. These are the “secrets” that will reward you financially, personally, and with much more happiness.

All the best,

Success = Starting

In order to succeed you must start, then never quit. Or to fail never start or quit after starting.

I met a man today at an event in which he started his company and after nearly declaring bankruptcy and quitting he received one call from an 800 directory he recently received.

The customer said “I learned about your service and I need something like this. can we meet? ”

After meeting the customer the customer said “ok Ill sign up, but can you give me a discount if I promise to refer you to a couple colleagues?” The man said ok let me check with my (non existent) boss and get back to you.” Sure enough he had the conversation in his car on the way out of his sales call, and agreed with himself it was fine to give the discount.

That customer indeed refereed him two more clients, who also gave him more business.

You hear these stories all the time in life, and in my opinion you can never hear enough of them. It may just be the time you need that extra reinforcement that what you are doing is for the better and needs to be done. So keep going, keep pushing, and success will come.

General

Todays action is more of a question. What is power? Does money equal power? Or control equals power?

I met an interesting man today at Starbucks and in conversation he pointed out he believed a general has more power than the most powerful CEO with lots of money. What do you think?

My personal opinion is freedom is power. And of course we would not have our freedom without thanking the many service men and women who protect us day in and day out.

Lyme

Today even the smallest of actions can make a huge impact. Dont become a micro manager but sometimes getting into the details is important.

Todays action is my tribute to the tick, that rendered me useless this weekend, in short order. But it reminded me that the even the smallest incident can have such a big impact on our life. Keep an eye on the details, you may stop them before they take you over!

Well it was a long weekend and Im glad I had the appointment today, as I definitely have Lyme disease. Luckily we caught it in plenty of time and the antibiotics will take care of it.

all the best,

Listen to your own advice.

Ever give advice to a friend or loved one, but when it comes to doing the same for yourself you well become a bit of a hypocrite.

Last week I received a tick bite (pretty common in the North East). Today my tick bite started to show signs of a “ring” which is the first sign I may have Lyme disease. If the tick had bitten my wife, or kids I would have set up the appointment immediately. But for myself eh its not red enough or round enough, lets just see if I get the flu symptoms.

So after thinking about it over lunch I made the appointment and well find out Monday what it is. Listen to your own advice!

best,

Baseball

Again I have not affiliation with Our Baseball Haven, however this is just such an awesome concept I think you all should check it out. Today consider what $100 is worth to you, and then consider owning a piece of your own baseball team.

Today I met with the founders and what a great story. They are doing something so great, combining two of the most powerful ideals of what it is to be an American, Baseball and Charity!

Best of luck guys!

MeetingWave

So although I have no affiliation with MeetingWave I strongly suggest everyone check it out. So today find a meeting in your area and try http://www.meetingwave.com

I met with the founder today, and I think this concept is great. Networking face to face is so much more powerful than any other medium. Regardless of how great the internet has become, we will always form human relationships face to face.

John is a good guy and he has some great plans for MeetingWave.

Alternate Route

Today’s action is to take a different route home.

Today I resisted the urge to take the same route home, and changed my route. The result, I remembered a friend of mine who is in construction was working on a project at a bakery on my alternate route.

My detour resulted in a spontaneous visit to an old friend that brightened an already good day.

Take the alternate route, you may be surprised where it brings you.

Which are you, Sane, Crazy or Insane?

Today take a minute to asses yourself based on the below definitions.

Which are you?

Sane- One who lacks dreams.
Crazy- One who carries out their dreams.
Insane- One who can only dream.

Now once you have established what you are today, what changes will you make?

Comfort

Sometimes we all just need to throw the diet out the window and enjoy a meal that would put your trainer in a white padded room. Today just enjoy a meal you wouldn’t normally eat.

image

Tonight we went to The Cookhouse in New Milford, CT. It’s as southern cooking as you can get here in CT , and definetly not a NutriSystem meal!

Call Someone

Take your address book, and randomly pick someone you haven’t called in a while and call them.

I used my iphone and with a swipe found a person I hadn’t talked to in a while, Lisa. Lisa and I worked together for years and after she moved we kept in touch.

This action is so much easier with facebook, twitter, and all of the social networking available to us these days. The only thing I would want to change is the fact that we often rely on so much electronic communication we forget the sounds of peoples voice.

All the best,

Project 365

Commitment - today commit to something for a certain period of time. At first you might think it’s nearly impossible. Go out and amaze yourself.

The inspiration behind todays action is from my brother-in law, who at age 14 decided to take a picture every day and post it to his blog for an entire year! Two things are amazing about his feat.

1. He is 14 years old, and I don’t know many 14 year olds who can commit to anything for more than 5 days, net along a year (without getting paid of course, even with payment it probably won’t happen)!

2. The amazing pictures he took through the year, I’m proud of his growth through this time.

See his photos here at his site: 365 Project.

Great job!

EOD Notes

At the end of the day write down at least three to-do’s for tomorrow.

Many of you probably already do this, if your not you should. Its not only a way to stay organized, but also mentally, I feel it puts my anxieties to rest after I leave the office for the day. I find if I don’t write them down, I often feel as if Im thinking about the tasks at hand for tomorrow needlessly through the night.
